This vacancy is for a Supervisory IT Specialist position in the National Economic Accounts Directorate, National Income and Wealth Division (NIWD) located at the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Economic Analysis in Washington, DC.

The Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) is seeking a Branch Chief for its Systems Development and Operations Branch (SDOB), within the National Income and Wealth Division (NIWD). The SDOB is responsible for the operations of the central information technology (IT) systems, statistical software, and other IT systems that BEA uses to estimate the economic statistics that form the national economic accounts program. In this position, you will work with BEA's Chief Information Officer to ensure that division information technology resources support Bureau initiatives and comply with BEA, Department of Commerce (DOC), and other federal policies and standards. The successful candidate is a strategic thinker with vision and a desire to innovate.

The National Economic Accounts Program provides a quantitative view of U.S. domestic production, consumption, investment, exports and imports, and of national and domestic income and saving. It features the estimates of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which is one of the most closely watched of all economic statistics. Each month, BEA releases quarterly estimates of GDP for the previous quarter and monthly estimates personal income and outlays.
